Poetry: What Would You Do?

What would you do?

If you saw someone chained up everyday by someone else?
Would you call the police? Try to intervene?
Or would you pretend the seen was unseen,
Live you life without a care
That you knew someone was suffering so near.

What would you do?

If you knew of someone that was skin and bones?
By no choice of their own
And whilst their family ate quite well
They left them to starve and get ill
Would you report it to someone else? Would you refuse to give up?
Or would you turn a blind eye
Then later deny you knew about it at all.

What would you do?

If you witnessed someone being abused?
Hurt and tormented
Would you take a stand? Take the case till the very end?
Or would you stand by, witnessing from the side, assuming things will turn out fine and someone will eventually resolve it?

What would you do?
If you did nothing at all and later heard of the result
That they lived a miserable life
Nobody to stand by their side
By the time the truth was heard
The story will tell of a small creature
Living a horrible life with an even worse result.
They were now dead
The first time they could have rest
Away from pain and suffering
Away from other so uncaring

What would you do if this was YOU?
Living a life so cruel
Hoping someone would speak the truth
When you were unable to be heard
Hoping everyday was the last, one way or another
That either your be rescued or that you'd never wake
Anything to escape such a dark fate
What would go through your mind?
As others kept turning a blind eye
To all the suffering you had inside

What would you do?

Unfortunately this is a large truth
Many of us refuse to speak up
We see other suffering yet it gets overlooked
Nobody and nothing deserves such a path
Going through live without a single morsel of love

REPORT ABUSE whenever you see it
It might save someone for having to live it
Don't be silent as you can't be bothered to deal with it
Remember its not you having to suffer it
And if it was would you be able endure it?
Think about that before you ignore it.

We all have the right to a decent life
Don't allow abuse to go on
If you see any living being is unwell
Its better to do something than nothing at all
Report to the authorities or relevant organisations
Together we can build better nations

Next time you see someone or something is suffering
