Pet For Adoption - Pick Of The Day - Quarrel - Horse - ManyTearsRescue - Carmarthenshire, SA14 7HB

QUARREL

Quarrel is a 15.1hh gelding - approximately 8 years old and was rescued 2 years ago. He is great to shoe, box, clip and worm. He is kind, thoughtful, affectionate and intelligent. Quarrel is a great all rounder and will work in the sand school, hack, jump a small course, lunge and round-pen.

Quarrel had a terrible start to life and was desperately under weight, when rescued. Quarrel still has some fears hidden inside him. I love hacking him and hack him alone regularly, but he can be spooky when he is out, without the company of another horse. He has carried a novice rider out, with company.

When I work with him around the stable he is wonderful and will stand, tied up, happily, while being groomed, tacked up, having his legs and tail washed etc. However Quarrel could become spooky or head shy, with an inconsiderate handler who is too quick or sharp with him. He is a sensitive, kind, thinker and needs a sensible home that will recognize his feelings. He stood calmly on Pony Day while a number of children groomed him and plaited his mane and tail. Quarrel is a wonderful chap who is the star of every stable management, teaching session. He has patiently stood while beginners learn to tack up, groom, bandage, prepare him for travelling and more. He is truly wonderful to teach with and everyone adores him!!

Quarrel has only done a little jumping, but has been very honest with everything that I have asked of him. He needs a confident rider if his jumping is to progress. Quarrel will work happily in the sand school in all three paces. He understands the leg yield and has started to learn shoulder in and travers. Quarrel can express a Spanish walk on request. Occasionally if he becomes stressed he will slip into a Spanish walk, in an attempt to please his rider. Quarrel is fabulous to round pen and is a quick learner. He responds quickly to clicker training and we would love a home that would continue this positive reinforcement training.

Quarrel is currently having Red Cell supplement, which works perfectly to ensure that he is receiving enough iron and vitamin B 12. Quarrel currently wears heart bar shoes ensuring maximum support while he works on the roads.

Quarrel needs a forever home, where his family will live on site. He is a lovely family pony and we would expect his new family to give him a wonderful life throughout his working and retired years.
He needs an experienced family, who not only understands and is confident with stable management and riding, but also understands horse behaviour and can recognise how important it is in daily horse management.

Quarrel needs a home where he has daily turnout, but access to a stable or loose barn when needed. He needs the company of other horses. Quarrel has previously become over excited when turned out with mares. He currently is only turned out with other geldings.

If you are interested in offering Quarrel a wonderful home for life, please email Sylvia oninfo@manytearsrescue.org with full information regarding your experience and the home that you could offer.
